On behalf of Panattoni Development Company (“Panattoni”), I am pleased to provide this letter of
recommendation to Van Rooyen Construction (Alberta) Ltd. (“Van Rooyen”) for the site work preparation and land development improvements which have been completed on a number of our projects. Most recently they were awarded the 2014 earthwork contract for a 125 acre industrial subdivision in Acheson, Alberta.
Van Rooyen was the successfully bidder for the entire earthwork package against several other earth
work contractors for the mass grading of the entire 125 acre subdivision, which included the construction
of a 135,000 cubic meter storm water pond. Coincidently, as Van Rooyen was pushing for timely
completion of the subdivision earthwork, we also awarded a 14-acre industrial yard to the company
because of pleasant experiences with similar work. The entire 14 acre parcel was compacted, covered
with geosynthetic fabric and grid, and 315mm of 40mm gravel. Both projects were completed timely and
in keeping with our deadlines and budgets.
As the developer for the project, Panattoni has been very appreciative of the professionalism and quality
of work completed by Van Rooyen. In particular, having Randal Van Rooyen on the site making
decisions and, if necessary for success, operating the equipment to ensure the work was completed as
per our engineered design was very comforting. The feedback from our team members on our projects
have been positive regarding the company and quality of work completed by Van Rooyen.
In addition to completing our projects as per their tender submissions, within the schedule parameters
and on budget with the contract price, Van Rooyen offers several value-add suggestions throughout the
construction of the project to ensure our ownership team understands their options and any
circumstances surrounding material or methodology choices.
